Sam’s Fans and A THREAD of Hope

Sam’s Fans is a non-profit organization created in memory of Samantha McCarthy. Founded by Sam’s mom, Nikki McCarthy, it’s dedicated to promoting and enhancing music and art therapy programs that serve seriously ill children and their families. The organization works with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Ohio University and individual families.

Miranda Boyle, founder and owner of THREAD, became friends with Nikki many years ago. They created an immediate, life-long connection. In October of 2015, A THREAD of Hope was born. Each year, the event grows and generates a huge impact for Sam’s Fans.  In addition to supporting two incredible organizations that share the mission: Flying Horse Farms and the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, TOH provides funding for a much needed music and art therapy program at the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center BMT unit, specializing in care for patients with serious illnesses. It also helped Nikki realize a longtime dream of bringing a part-time outpatient music therapist to pediatric patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital!

After 3 successful years, the committee decided to bring on a planner to help enhance and manage the event - enter StR Events! It was a perfect fit for us.  I’ve always wanted to do something with Children’s Hospital; I just hadn’t found the right opportunity - enter A THREAD of Hope! We couldn’t be more proud to have met and planned alongside this year’s committee (see below). What an amazing group of women! We weren’t sure how the planning would go - so we just dove right in. Though it was a lot of hard work, thanks to some amazing local vendors, sponsors and the planning committee, it was a fantastic evening!

We had some really great local and national companies and individuals provide amazing items for the silent auction and two unique raffles (hello, one-of-a-kind custom necklace!) - a little something for everyone!

The THREAD team put together a rock-star fashion presentation, enhanced by the Mukha Spa team’s brilliant hair and make-up!
